How much does a SHIBUYA SKY ticket cost?

Ticket Price
Short version: book on the official portal and you pay the lower of the two adult rates; buy at the 14th-floor counter on the day and you pay more for exactly the same view. Children under 5 go free, and tickets for children of roughly 6 to 11 are sold only at that counter, on the day itself. If the slot you wanted has already gone, there is no cheaper door: the counter sells only what the website has not sold, and a guided tour with the admission bundled into it becomes the last route up.

The official prices

Adult entry booked online is ¥2,700 for a slot starting before 15:00 and ¥3,400 from 15:00 onwards. The later band is the one most visitors end up in, because the hours people want are the ones after three in the afternoon. Nothing about the building changes at 15:00. You are paying for the light.

The same two tiers cost ¥3,000 and ¥3,700 if you buy at the ticket counter on the 14th floor. Online is always the cheaper of the two, and I have never found a reason to buy at the counter on purpose.

Why the counter is not a cheaper back door

The counter only sells what the website has not sold. If your slot shows sold out online, it is sold out on the 14th floor as well, and no amount of turning up in person changes that. I watch people make this walk most weekends. There is more detail on how quickly the slots go.

Children

Under-5s enter free. Tickets for children of about 6 to 11 are sold only at the physical counter, on the day of the visit, so a family cannot buy the complete set online in advance. Plan for one adult to queue on the 14th floor while the rest wait.

What the tours cost, and what the difference buys

There is no admission-only SHIBUYA SKY ticket on GetYourGuide. What is sold there is a guided Shibuya experience with the admission built into the price, from $73 for a two-hour daytime pop culture walk to $295 for a private ten-hour day for a group of up to five. Against an official ¥2,700 or ¥3,400, that is a large premium, and I am not going to dress it up as a discount. What it buys is a guide for two hours, a booked entry that already exists, and somebody who knows which corner the queue forms at. The full spread is on the tours that include the ticket.

What works

  • Booking online saves ¥300 on either time band
  • Under-5s are free, so a small child costs nothing
  • A tour with the ticket bundled in still gets you up on a sold-out evening

Worth knowing

  • The 6 to 11 child ticket cannot be bought in advance
  • Tour prices are several times the gate price, and always will be
  • No refund if the rooftop closes for wind after you have gone in
Insider tip

If your dates are flexible and the sunset slots are gone, an early slot at ¥2,700 on a clear morning is the better spend. The city looks different rather than worse, and you can see Mount Fuji from up there on the right day.

Book a tour that includes the ticket

The cheapest option that still gets you through the gate is the two-hour daytime walk at $73. Live prices and dates below.

Frequently asked questions

Is it cheaper to buy SHIBUYA SKY tickets online or at the counter?

Online, always. Adult entry is ¥2,700 before 15:00 and ¥3,400 from 15:00 online, against ¥3,000 and ¥3,700 at the 14th-floor counter. The mechanics of booking are on how to get tickets.

Why does a tour cost so much more than the ticket?

Because you are buying two hours of a guide, the transport fee on some tours and an entry slot that already exists, on top of the ¥2,700 to ¥3,400 admission. Tours run from $73 to $295, and they are worth it mainly when the official slot you wanted has gone.

Do children pay for SHIBUYA SKY?

Under-5s enter free. Roughly 6 to 11 is a counter-only ticket bought on the day of the visit. For the light that suits a family visit, see the best time to go up.
